Roman Republic Daily

Some of the ways that the old Roman Republic is related to the modern democracy is for one thing they have a checks and balances policy. This was so one branch of the government did not get too much power. The Roman Republic also had a seperation of powers system so that one branch of the government did not have all the power over the government. The Roman Republic also had a form of a constitution. This Constituion unlike ours was not written but spoken and known throughout the nation. One more comparision is that they had a concil that would carry out the action of the government, much like ours.

  1. Did the Romans have their own version of the Government Accountability Office? Who was really in charge in Rome?
